Crusher Sonic:
Hold C while watching the demo. Sonic will crash into walls.
Select any level:
Press Up, Down, Left, Right at the title screen. If you entered the code
correctly you will hear a sound. Then, hold A button and press Start
to select any level.
Alternate ending:
To watch the alternate ending you have to complete the game with all
chaos emeralds.
Config mode:
To activate the config mode, you have to activate the control mode first.
You have to press UP, C, DOWN, C, LEFT, C, RIGHT, C at the title screen, but
before pushing START to begin the game, press and hold A as you hit start to
activate control mode. Now you can enable config mode by pressing button B.
Sonic will morphs into a ring and you can go with Sonic anywhere.
You can switch through any items by pressing the A button in config mode.
If you want to place the sprite that you have selected for Sonic to appear
as, press C. If you want morph back to Sonic press B button.
Note: Config mode will distort several different things, such as the time
and score in the game.
Cheat codes for the Japanese Version of Sonic the Hedgehog:
Config mode:

Team logo, to a list of the game's programmers in Japanese. When the title
screen displayed, a "Press Start Button" message will flash under Sonic's
head.
Slow Motion and other commands:
Press C, C, Up, Down, Down, Down, Left, Right at the title screen.
If you entered the code correctly you should hear a sound of ring.
While playing, pause the game and hold B button to play in Slow Motion mode.
If you press C button, you can skip a frame.
If you press A button you will jump back to the Title Screen.
