Unlock Kojiroh, Tanuki Akari, and Deku Shigen:
Finish the game once, then go to the character selection screen and 
push L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 buttons. The bonus players will be selectable.

Unlock Bosses as playable charaters:
Push the L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 buttons at the character selection screen.
