with 10 lives and all co-pilots rescued.

Cheat mode:
While you are at the title screen, press X, O, X, Square, X, Square, 
L, O, R, O, Start to unlock the cheat menu. The cheat menu contain  
invincibility, mission/area and sound test options.

To start the game with 10 lives, press Square at the main menu, then
