at the team selection screen. After choose your team, and begin

Place the player with the puck between the face-off circles and hit
A + C-Down.

Player trades
Hold L and hit C-Down, C-Down, C-Up, C-Up, C-Down, C-Down, C-Right,
C-Right, C-Down at the options screen. After, go back to the main
menu, choose the records option and enter the team stats screen.
Now press C-Up(10 times). A modify teams menu will appear.
Highlight a team and hit A, highlight the another team and hit A
again. The 1st team's roster should be display on the left side
of the screen.
Hit B to modify the team.
Hit Down or Up to highlight the player to be replaced.
Hit Right or Left to highlight the replacement player.
Hit A to make the trade.
Hit Start to jump to the next team to modify.
